Participant Terms & Conditions & Safety Agreement

We want everyone to have a fantastic, memorable and enjoyable experience meeting and interacting with our animals.

Whether you are meeting Nagini, our 18ft snake, or taking part in one of our wider reptile handling sessions, our experienced team will be there to guide you, answer your questions and help you get the most from your experience.

We understand that getting up close with reptiles can be exciting. We want you to enjoy yourself, take photographs and create fantastic memories, while ensuring that our animals remain comfortable, safe and respected.

Our team are there to make sure everyone has the best possible experience, so please listen carefully and follow their instructions throughout the session.

 1. RESPECTING OUR ANIMALS

All of our animals must be treated calmly, gently and respectfully.

Participants must:

• Follow all instructions given by Slitherin Reptiles staff.
• Only touch, handle or interact with an animal when instructed to do so.
• Handle animals using the techniques demonstrated by our team.
• Keep noise to a minimum and avoid sudden movements.
• Never grab, squeeze, pull, chase or deliberately frighten an animal.
• Never attempt to pick up, move or reposition an animal without permission.
• Never touch sensitive areas such as the eyes, mouth or head unless specifically instructed.
• Never feed an animal unless instructed by a member of staff.
• Never pass an animal to another participant without permission.
• Keep animals within the designated handling area.

If an animal does not wish to interact or needs to be returned to its enclosure, this must always be respected.

 2. NAGINI – 18FT SNAKE

Nagini is a large, live animal and requires particular care and attention.

When interacting with Nagini, participants must:

• Remain calm and follow staff instructions at all times.
• Never grab, pull, squeeze or restrain Nagini.
• Never sit, stand, kneel or place weight on Nagini.
• Never attempt to pick up, move or reposition Nagini without staff instruction.
• Never deliberately frighten, provoke or excite Nagini.
• Never attempt to feed Nagini.
• Never touch her head, face, eyes or mouth unless specifically instructed.
• Remain in the position directed by our team.

Nagini's welfare will always take priority over the experience.

 3. ANIMAL WELFARE COMES FIRST

Our animals are not props and their welfare will always be our priority.

Animal behaviour cannot be guaranteed. An animal may behave differently from one day to another or may decide that it does not wish to interact.

Slitherin Reptiles may change the animals included in a session, reduce handling time or stop an interaction completely where we believe this is necessary for the welfare of an animal or the safety of participants and staff.

We ask that all participants respect these decisions.

 4. NOISE & BEHAVIOUR

Please help us create a calm and enjoyable environment for our animals.

Participants must:

• Keep noise to a reasonable minimum.
• Avoid shouting, screaming or sudden loud noises.
• Avoid sudden movements.
• Remain calm while handling animals.
• Never deliberately scare, provoke or excite an animal.
• Follow instructions regarding where to stand, sit or move.

We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the experience, but responsible behaviour around the animals is essential.

5. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO

Photography and video are welcome where appropriate.

Please ensure:

• Staff instructions are followed while taking photographs.
• You do not move around while holding an animal without permission.
• Flash is not used unless permitted by staff.
• Photography does not interfere with the session, other participants or animal welfare.

Our team may ask photography or filming to stop where necessary.

 6. STAFF AUTHORITY & STOPPING THE EXPERIENCE

Slitherin Reptiles staff have full authority over the handling and management of the animals during the experience.

We reserve the right to stop the session, end an individual's participation or ask a participant to leave the handling area if:

• Staff instructions are not followed.
• These Terms & Conditions are breached.
• An animal is handled inappropriately.
• A participant behaves in an unsafe or disruptive manner.
• An animal is becoming stressed or uncomfortable.
• Staff believe there is a safety or welfare concern.

If your participation is stopped because you have failed to follow these Terms & Conditions or staff instructions, the full booking fee remains payable and no refund or reduction will be provided.

Any decision made by our team to stop an interaction for animal welfare or safety reasons will be final.

 7. PARTICIPANT SAFETY & LIABILITY

I understand that interacting with live animals carries inherent risks, including scratches, bites, knocks, allergic reactions or other injuries.

Participants must follow all instructions given by Slitherin Reptiles staff and accept responsibility for following the safety guidance provided during the experience.

To the extent permitted by law, Slitherin Reptiles accepts no liability for injury, loss or damage arising from participation in the experience, except where such liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

8. RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANIMAL WELFARE & VETERINARY COSTS

Participants must take reasonable care when interacting with our animals and must follow all instructions given by our team.

If a participant deliberately, recklessly or through a failure to follow staff instructions causes injury, illness or other health problems to an animal, Slitherin Reptiles reserves the right to seek reimbursement from the participant for reasonable costs incurred as a direct result.

This may include veterinary examination, treatment, medication, diagnostic testing and other reasonable veterinary costs required as a result of the incident.

Any such costs will be assessed on the circumstances of the incident and supported by appropriate veterinary documentation or invoices.

☐ I understand that if my participation is stopped because I have failed to follow the Terms & Conditions or staff instructions, the full booking fee remains payable and no refund or reduction will be provided.

☐ I understand that interacting with live animals carries inherent risks.

☐ I understand that, where permitted by law, I may be responsible for reasonable veterinary costs if my deliberate, reckless or negligent actions or failure to follow staff instructions causes injury or illness to an animal.
